Black Rebel Motorcycle Club tickets

The other day I was listening to my favorite radio station, 89.3 the Current and I heard the new BRMC song, "Beat the Devil's Tattoo" which is the title track from their new album. It's really almost here! The concert that is. I have my First Avenue tickets waiting for me at will call and I cannot be more excited. Hearing the new song made me realize that the First Avenue concert is only a few short weeks away. One month from tomorrow - I can't wait!

Sorry, I will quit saying that.

First Avenue tickets are on sale now for the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club show on March 26th, 2010. One of my new favorite bands, Band of Skulls, is the show. I have started buying a cd at Electric Fetus every week. I can't go to the benefit show tomorrow night so I want to make sure I am supporting my local record store in every way that I can. I would cry millions of tears if that store closed. I want to be able to take my children there someday.

Everytime I have seen a BRMC show (this has been quite a few times kids) it has sold out. Buy First Avenue tickets now for this show before they are sold out! You do not want to miss this show, they are my favorite band on the planet to see! (ok, i will quit saying that, too)

Julian Casablancas tickets

Hello hello! Long time no blog, but the beautiful Caribbean waters of Mexico called and I had to go visit for a few days.
When I came back I had a lovely surprise - JULIAN CASABLANCAS announced a show! My dreams have been answered! I thought there was no way he was going to make a Minneapolis stop. The Strokes (hiss full time gig) went back into the studio this month to record a new album. The band has been on hiatus for awhile, rehab, marriage, etc., but now they're back, ready to record and tour. Julian has already toured for his new album, only with east and west coast dates, but this little thing called Coachella Music Festival asked Julian Casablancas to play this year. So on his way from New York to Cali for the festival, he is stopping in cities that are 'on his way' to Coachella. Which includes a First Avenue stop on Thursday, April 8th. YES, another concert in April that I will be attending. I already overbooked two nights, luckily this one is not one them. However, the following night is another story. I have tickets to see Deertick at the Triple Rock and Varsity Theater tickets to see the XX. On the same night! Why do they do this to me.

It is exhaisting being a Minneapolis music fan some days. Anywho, as soon as I got home and heard about this amazing show I ran out to buy my First Avenue tickets for this show. The last time the Strokes were here they sold out the Orpheum! And before that they super sold out First Avenue tickets. I think this is going to be a big First Avenue event, but hey, maybe that is because I am so excited for it!

See you at the show!!

3OH!3 tickets

3OH!3 have announced a new album and a new tour to follow it. Label mates, Cobra Starship will also be headlining this show. And good news for kiddies: the show is all ages. I wish my brother still like these guys, I am dying to buy First Avenue tickets to a show he can go to!

Actually, I wondered what Cobra Starship have been up to lately. While I was getting ready for work this morning I was checking out the top ten new videos show on MTV and they had a new video "Hot Mess" on the show. It was hysterical, the song is about being in love with girls that are hot messes. Every girl in the video was in fact portraying a hot, drunken heap of a mess. You know you've seen her at the bar, the girl stumbling around in heels, maybe even missing one. Mascara smeared all over the place. You know the girl I'm talking about! If you were to Google image search 'hot mess' one could expect pictures of Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton or even Tara Reid to show up. I would post a picture here for you, but I don' think it would be blogger friendly.

First Avenue tickets
go on sale for this show on Saturday. Last time 3OH!3 was here on a their own tour the show was super super sold out. The last two years they have been here was on the Vans Warped Tour, but it will be nice to see them in not so scorching heat. First Avenue tickets will be available to everyone - this is an all ages concert and MTV sponsored (which means MTV will sponsor the heck out of it!) but First Avenue tickets will sell fast!

First Avenue tickets

Looking for something to do on St. Patrick's day this year? And lets not forget that it is only about a month away ... which means that spring and summer are that much closer.
Sadly it doesn't appear that everyone's favorite Irish band, Flogging Molly will be playing in Minneapolis this year (sorry folks, they're in Florida this St. Patrick's Day). Boiled in Lead will be playing their annual St. Patrick's Day show at First Avenue. First Avenue tickets are on sale now for the 2010 Boiled in Lead St. Patrick's Day show.

Boiled in Lead
have been a Minneapolis Celtic band since 1983. While the do not tour anymore, they still come out for the St. Patrick's Day show.

Don't miss your chance to buy First Avenue tickets to the 27th Annual St. Patrick's Day Concert with boiled in lead. Despite St. Patrick's day for being one of the most popular days to go out drinking the show is 18+. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. The Brass Kings and Minnesota Police Pipe Band open the show.

First Avenue tickets

There are a lot of upcoming show that Minneapolis music fans are nuts about. I say this because First Avenue tickets for many upcoming shows are sold out.

Here is a list of the ones (so far) that First Avenue tickets are going to be difficult to stumble upon:

2/13 - The Suburbs

2/20 - Jack's Mannequin

3/5 - The Avett Brothers

3/22 - Vampire Weekend

4/2 - Spoon 21+ show

4/4 - Passion Pit

Man oh man am I glad that I bought my First Avenue tickets to see Passion Pit before it sold out. I missed them last summer when they played at The Triple Rock on one of their off days from Lollapalooza.

The Avett Brothers have a little more hub-bub surrounding them these days. I learned the other day that they are singing backing vocals on Johnny Cash's new (yes you read that correctly) American VI album that is set to release on what would have been his 78th birthday. The Current has been playing the new songs all week. I am big fan of the American Recordings - something I didn't think would ever be released again. Rick Rubin has been hanging onto all of these recordings since Cash's death in 2003. Rick! What were you thinking!

First Avenue tickets are sold out for the shows I listed above, so you better get looking if you still want to check out Jack's Mannequin. I would keep a close eye on Yeasayer (already sold out the Varsity Theater so they moved it to the main room), The Big Pink, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are all shows that First Avenue tickets may become hard to find! See you there!

Gogol Bordello tickets

They are back! One of the more interesting bands popular with the youngsters these days Gogol Bordello have announced not one, but two shows at First Avenue this April. And they were smart about it, the shows will be on a Saturday and Sunday night the 24th and 25th respectively.

First Avenue tickets are on sale for both shows now. Sorry kiddies, both shows are 18+. I am kind of bummed, I was hoping that I could take my brother! Since the band formed in 1999 Gogol Bordello have captured a large live show following. They are known for their theatrical stage shows which include (but are not limited to) accorians and violins. First Avenue tickets will sell out for one or both of their shows, the show at the Cabooze sold out last summer. Last August Gogol Bordello were one of the acts that played on one of the outside stages at the Cabooze's summer concert series.

You may recognize Gogol Bordello from their late night talk show appearances. Gogol Bordello have been on Jimmy Kimmel Live twice, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Henry Rollins Show, and on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Don't miss either of these shows. With not one, but two shows you have no excuse to miss out on First Avenue tickets for this show!

See you there!

Devotchka opens both shows.

Gogol: From the author Nikolai Gogol, who paved the way for the likes of Kafka and Dostoevsky
+
Bordello: is Italian for brothel or a gentleman's club.

Bone Thugs N Harmony tickets

Listen up R & B fans! My bff, Mary, just informed me that Bone Thugs N Harmony have announced another Minneapolis show! Minneapolis music fans have been pretty lucky in the past 6 months. Bone Thugs were just here a few months back at the Fine Line Music Cafe. Fine Line tickets flew out the door for that show so First Avenue tickets should be just as popular for this one.

First Avenue tickets
go on sale this Saturday, February 6th. No opening act for this show has been announced yet, however, the show is 18+ - sorry kiddies! Bone Thugs experienced the majority of the success during the mid 1990's so most of their fans should not have a problem getting into the show seeing they are of age. First Avenue tickets for the Bone Thugs have not gone on sale yet, however, there is a lot of excitement from Minneapolis music fans to see their signature hit "Crossroads."

Bone Thugs N Harmony started 2010 with a major change to their band. They parted ways with their long time manager Bobby Francis. Despite the minor set back, Bone Thugz are back and ready to tour! See you at the show!

"bone, bone, bone, bone ... I'mm gonna miss everybody"

SXSW Sendoff Party tickets

It is that time of the year again where people begin to think of South By Southwest travels. As you know, South By Southwest is the annual music and arts festival in Austin, Texas. Hundreds maybe even thousands of bands play there during a week in March every year. Bands from all over the world travel to Austin, Texas to showcase their music at various clubs around Austin.

The past few years Vita.MN has showcased a send off party for those bands in Minneapolis that are making the trek down Interstate 35 to Austin, Texas. First Avenue tickets are available to see Minneapolis bands: Lookbook, Peter Wolf Crier, Jeremy Messersmith, Romantica, and City on the Make. That is quite the line up! Lookbook just played at the Current's 5th birthday party last Friday. Lookbbook is currently one of the hot Minneapolis live acts to check out. Lookbook could almost sell out First Avenue tickets for the main room on their own. If this is a show that you would like to see be sure to buy your First Avenue tickets asap!

There are too many bands announced for South By Southwest to list. Deer Tick, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Evan Dando, JJ, the XX, She and Him, Spoon, and the Soft Pack are just 1/1564th of the bands playing I would like to see!

One of these years I will make the trek, but for now I have to watch and listen from MPLS.

Here is a look of just how crazy things can get on Austin's popular 6th street
