Pete Yorn tickets

Pete Yorn just announced a show at First Avenue on Friday, February 25th. That seems like ages away, doesn't it. Pete Yorn is touring in support of his current release, a self titled endeavor that was released in September of this year. He managed to nab Frank Black as the producer of this one.

There is a catchy little tune called "Precious Stone" that alt rock radio stations have taken kindly to. Check out the performance on Leno:

First Avenue tickets are on sale now for the Pete Yorn show. However, something that is more notable that Pete Yorn is the opening act, which is one of my personal favorites, Ben Kweller. I have been going to his shows since I was 17 years old - I can't wait to see him again. He hasn't released an album in awhile, but he tours pretty frequently. I haven't seen one of his shows since he opened for Aimee Mann at the zoo awhile back. I must admit, I am a little embarrassed to buy my First Avenue tickets for this show, I don't want to ask for a Pete Yorn tickets, I am going as a Ben Kweller fan!

First Avenue tickets

Did you catch Too Much Love this weekend? There were very special guests this weekend.
Twitter and Facebook were abuzz Saturday with the 'very special guest" at TML. It was no suprise that LCD Soundsytem was that 'special guest.'

As you know, First Avenue tickets are not needed for TML, you simply pay a cover of $5 at the door. The rumor of LCD Soundsystem was just that, a rumor, until their entourage showed up at First Ave around 12:30 to a super packed First Avenue. Not only did they bring their records to spin, but Hot Chip joined in the fun as well.

I was over on the West Bank for the Is/Is / F Nights show so I had to sit this fun night out. But I loved see all pictures from my friends. I think this was cooler than Passion Pit spinning at the record room, what do you think?

Broken Bells tickets

AHHAHHHA YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Broken Bells are coming, Broken Bells are coming, Broken Bells are coming!!! Oh yeah, Broken Bells are coming! Big excitement from this gal that James Mercer and Dangermouse are coming to town December 6th. I have been dreaming of seeing this power duo, didn't think it was going to happen because Dangermouse is pretty much the most sought after dude in the music industry. But, dreams do come true. December 6th at First Avenue - be there or be missing out on the best show of the season.

First Avenue tickets go on sale Friday and will sell out so fast it will make your head spin. Broken Bells' debut album is on my top 5 albums of 2010 and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way!

Ah! It's just so exciting. If you want to hear all the jams like "The High Road" "The Ghost Inside" and "Vaporize" buy First Avenue tickets now! This is a show you will not want to miss!

Moment of Remembering

This weekend the Minneapolis music scene lost a very talented man. Eyedea (aka Micheal Larson) was found dead in his home yesterday. It is not clear what he died from, however, it is a shock to all.
Eyedea, as I am sure you know was part of the local Rhymesayers label. Label mates include Atmosphere, Brother Ali, etc.
Oh Friday night Eyedea was seen at the 7th Street Entry checking out fellow friend/artist/collaborator/band mate Abilities who was performing with Pigeon John from LA.
It was one of those deaths which has taken everyone by surprise and leaves a lot of unanswered questions. There is a memorial account set up to help his mother pay for funeral costs, which can be found on this facebook page.

What a loss.

Brandon Flowers tickets

The Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers, has embarked on a solo tour. He has booked dates in Vegas (I think his ultimate goal is to have a long term gig there) and Brandon is now touring in support of his solo album, "Flamingo" around the country. Another notable fact about this tour is the lead singer of Train has also branched out on his own and is the opening act. Fran Healy is touring in support of his solo album, "Wreckorder."

First Avenue tickets are on sale now for the Brandon Flowers show. Last time the Killers were in town they managed to sell out the Northrop Auditorium. A place which hold three times the amount of people First Avenue does! First Avenue tickets will sell out fast for this one. Granted, I will readily admit I cannot name a solo Brandon Flowers song, but I can sure name a few Killers songs. Brandon Flowers will I'm sure do a mixture of both, but if you want to go make sure to buy your First Avenue tickets early.

Brandon Flowers: Sunday, November 21st.

Andrew Bird tickets

It seems that Andrew Bird loves the winter - he always stops by Minneapolis during the great ol' month of December. And this year is no exception - Andre Bird will be bringing his whistling jams to the First Ave mainroom on December 2nd. First Avenue tickets are on sale now for this show, however, I wouldn't be surprised if this show sold out quickly. Andrew Bird tickets were hard to come by last year when he was on his small church tour. Andrew Bird added not, one, but two more additional shows. And he sold all three of them out. People love their Andrew Bird!

Andrew Bird has booked churches in other cities, however, Minneapolis is the only city that will have a full band. First Avenue tickets will go fast for this one, I really suggest buying First Avenue tickets now! In Chicago, where Andrew is playing one of his church shows, he already has three shows. Also, on this Minneapolis date Alpha Consumer is the opener.

First Avenue tickets are on sale now for this show!
